American Novelty

Heley and I went to see 'American Novelty' last night. It was really great, and there was a good turnout. Pops Bayless made a bunch of slides that were used to narrate a (pseudo-)history of previously unknown novelty jazz musicians that were used to frame the songs that they played. The narrative was really funny, the actor that presented it was very reminiscent of Mark Twain. The narrative did a good job at setting the tone and mood for the Shorty Long tunes that they played. We liked it.
